Sean Lugano Field

Sean Lugano Memorial Field at Loyola University Maryland stands as a heartfelt tribute to Sean Lugano, a 1995 graduate and three-time All-American rugby player who tragically lost his life in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. Sean was a beloved captain of Loyola’s men's rugby team and a charismatic figure remembered for his leadership, loyalty, and vibrant personality. His family and friends, along with the Society of Loyola Old Boys Rugby alumni network, raised over $1 million to dedicate this field in his honor. Located within the Ridley Athletic Complex, the field serves as the home ground for Loyola’s men’s and women’s rugby programs, providing a state-of-the-art venue for practices and matches. Opened in 2010, Sean Lugano Memorial Field not only celebrates Sean's legacy but also fosters the spirit of camaraderie and excellence he embodied during his life. Read more here
